OACAC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Counselor.  The counselor supports adults in creating a healthy social-emotional climate within families and classrooms, fosters well-being of adults and children by building healthy relationship skills, and coordinates and supervises mental health services to Head Start/Early Head Start children with social emotional and behavior concerns. The ideal candidate is passionate about influencing systems and supports that positively impact the trajectory of a child’s life, strengthening the capacity of adults to nurture and sustain positive relationships with young children, and being part of a vibrant “school family” of committed professionals.

Salary Range begins at $24.60

 

Requirements: Minimum:  Master’s degree in counselling, psychology, social work or educational psychology and PLPC,  LPC, or LCSW and one year of experience working with children in a pre-school setting.

Declaration Form for prospective employees of Head Start programs

Federal policies require that Head Start agencies require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment which lists: 1. All pending and prior criminal arrests and charges related to child sexual abuse and their disposition 2. Convictions related to other forms of child abuse and/or neglect 3. All convictions of violent felonies The declaration may exclude: 1. Any offense other than one related to child abuse and/or child sexual abuse or violent felonies committed before the prospective employee's 18th birthday, which was finally adjudicated in a juvenile court or under a youth offender law 2.
