OACAC Head Start is seeking a compassionate, mission-driven Registered Nurse (RN)to join our multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Health Specialist plays a key role in promoting the health and well-being of children ages birth–5 by coordinating comprehensive health services, partnering with families, and ensuring compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards.

Position Overview

The Nurse Health Specialist:

• Oversees health requirements, screenings, and follow-up for enrolled children.

• Supports families in accessing timely medical, dental, nutrition, and mental health services.

• Trains and collaborates with teaching staff, family advocates, and program leadership.

• Builds relationships with community health providers to ensure coordinated care.

• Ensures health practices meet federal, state, and Head Start regulations.

This role is ideal for an RN who values prevention, family partnerships, holistic child development, and health equity.

Requirements: Registered Nurse (BSN preferred) with a current state license. Experience in pediatric or community/public health nursing preferred. Knowledge of early childhood development, family dynamics, and health regulations. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
